Directions for 3-D Punch Art Camera Box

Happy Monday Friends!

Following are directions and lots of photos for the Punch Art Camera Box I posted last week.  When I made this at the LNS Pre-Convention events last month, it was one of my favorite projects of the week!  These may be a little different from my friend Kelly’s original design…but here’s what I came up with for the box itself:

3-D Camera Box

•7-3/8 x 9½ Basic Black Cardstock.

•Using your Simply Scored Scoring Tool (#122334, $29.95), place your cardstock so that the 7-3/8″ side is at the top and score at ½”; turn 90° and score at ½”.

•Then with the 9½” side along the top of the Scoring Tool, Score at 4½ and 5″.  Just cut up to the 1/2″ line in the middle of the box on both sides to create 2 center tabs on each side.Camera Box with 9-1/2 along top

Sticky Strip on Camera Box•Place Sticky Strip (#104294, $6.95 for 10 yards) along 2 (of the 4) 1/2″ scored panels as shown above.  Turn the side tabs in and place a small piece of Sticky Strip on the left and right tabs. (In the pic above, just place Sticky Strip on the side of the tab that you flip over.)

•Now to assemble the box, peel off the Sticky Strip from both tabs and adhere to the sides (without Sticky Strip) to form part of the box.Box assembly

•Then take the Sticky Strip off the side, fold in and adhere to make the base of the box. (Trick of the Trade:  Insert your scoring tool or bone folder into the box and apply pressure to where the box comes together.  This will allow the adhesive to make good contact with the cardstock.)

For the lid, cut Basic Black Cardstock 6-3/8 x 5-1/2″

•Again using the Scoring Tool, place the 5-1/2″ side along the top and score at 4″ and 4-1/2″Camera Box Lid

•Place Sticky Strip  along the edges as shown in the above picture above.  Get as close as you can to the edge of the cardstock and the edge near the 4″ score mark so that your lid will fit cleanly to the back of your box.

•For the camera strap, cut a 6″ (or longer if you like a long strap) piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon (126872, $4.95 for 10 yards).  Apply Sticky Strip to the bottom 1-1/2″ of the ribbon and fold it over the ribbon until the two sides meet.  This should be a 3″ piece of Sticky Strip.Sticky Strip applied to ribbon for Camera Strap

•Now peel back one side of the Sticky Strip and fold in half (make sure to tuck it under so the raw edges don’t show).  Now pull off the rest of the Sticky Strip and adhere to the left of the box, close to the score lines.  Now peel off the two pieces of Sticky Strip and adhere to the back edge of the box.  To secure the lid in the front, you may use a bit of Velcro.Placing the Camera Strap on

•For the Punch Art Camera, you will need the following punches( right to left in the picture):

•Postage Stamp Punch (#122344, $15.95), from Basic Gray Cardstock

•1″ Square Punch (#124094, $15.95), from Basic Black Cardstock

•2-3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (#118874, $16.95), from Basic Black Cardstock

•1-3/4″ Circle Punch (#119850, $16.95), from Whisper White Cardstock

•Petite Curly Label Punch (#129405, $12.95), from Basic Gray(cut in half) and Whisper White Cardstock. Assemble as shown (back view):Back of Petite Curly Label

•Modern Label Punch (#119849, $16.95), from Basic Black Cardstock

Once you are finished assembling the punch art pieces of the Camera,  you can insert your note cards or scrapbook.  Keep or give to a friend!

Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did!  Thanks to Kelly with LNS for the inspiration!

Jennifer
