Lots of Thanks Circle Thinlet

Happy Wednesday, Crafters!

So often people in our lives do the nicest things for us.  Sometimes, those on the receiving end do not fully recognize that kindness.

Lots of ThanksOh, sure we may say “thank you”…but how often do we send sincere messages of gratitude to them?

If we stop and think about the joy the recipient gets from opening an unexpected card in the mail, I am sure we would send thank you cards more often.

This card is made using the newest Circle Card Thinlits Die (#133480, $32.95) from Stampin’ Up!  I paired it with:

-Lots of Thanks stamp set (Wood #129687, $22.95, Clear #129690 $16.95),

-Magnificent Maple stamp (#131868, $9.95),

-Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (Wood #130514 $24.95, Clear #130517 $17.95),

-Blessings from Heaven stamp set (Wood #128487 $18.95, Clear #123052 $14.95) and

-2-1/2″ Circle Punch (#120906, $16.95).

It comes with lots of layering pieces to compliment the Circle Card Thinlit.  Each of those images are metal framelits that cut your cardstock!

TRICK OF THE TRADE: I made the card a little longer than the framelit allows.

Looking at the picture of the actual framelit on the right, I inserted a piece of 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ Tangerine Tango cardstock on top of the right edge and continued to feed it under the circle and lined it up under the left side.

When you run it thru the Big Shot, it will slice the outer edge of the circle…allowing it to flip when opened.  The extra flap that you created will now have a score line on it so you can fold it in.  This allows for added dimension to be unfurled.

Lots of Thanks-fullI accented it with a piece of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper (#132184, $10.95) and Very Vanilla cardstock that was run thru the Woodgrain Embossing Folder (#127821, $7.95) to give it a birch wood affect.

Here’s the inside where the circle was flipped over to reveal the sentiment “You are such a blessing in my life.”

Lots of Thanks-flipped openI hope you make a set of these and send them out to friends and family who help you in life’s journey.

Take Care…and thank you for being a loyal subscriber of my blog!

Modern Mosaic meets Papillon Potpourri

Hi Crafters!

Well, it is official…I am in love with the new Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder (EF) (#129984, $7.95)!  Ever since it arrived last month I haven’t been able to put it away!  Ha! :)  It creates such beautiful dimension that is perfect for the background of your card.

June 13 Mosaic Thank Yous

I created these for my customers who ordered from me this month.  Their June Thank You cards can be used to re-send to friends and family, as I have purposefully left them blank inside.  Only a re-moveable note card from me is included.

-Baked Brown Sugar (5½ x 8½, scored at 4¼) Go ahead and order the In Color Cardstock Assortment (#131200, $6.95) as it gives you 4 each in the 5 colors)

-Very Vanilla (4 x 5¼) run thru Modern Mosaic EF and small square for punching

-Left to Right, Top to Bottom:  Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana (1/4 sheet each for stamping and punching)

-Ink:  Baked Brown Sugar Ink Pad (#131174, $5.95)

-Stamps:  Papillon Potpourri (Wood Mount #132058, $18.95 or Clear Mount #123759, $14.95), By the Tide (Wood Mount #131910, $27.95 or Clear Mount #129120, $19.95), Postage Collection Hostess Stamp Set (Wood Mount #129237, or Clear Mount #129240)

-Punches:  Postage Stamp Punch (#122344, $15.95),  and Bitty Butterfly Punch #129406, $15.95)

-Embellishments:  Large Pearl Basic Jewels (#125577, $4.95), Stampin’ Dimensionals #104430, $3.95)

I popped up the Postage Stamp punches with one dimensional and the center sentiment with 2 dimensionals to really make it say “THANK YOU!”

I would LOVE to send you one, too!  Place your order with me by clicking on the “Shop Online” button and I will send you one of these beauties!:)

Have a great day!

Donated Cards for the USO

Greetings from Morrisville!  Grab a cup of coffee for a little story….

2012 USO donation2I first became introduced to the USO about 5 years ago when one of my best friends (hi DeAhn!:) told me that her family was taking Thanksgiving treats over to the USO… located in the Raleigh Durham Airport (aka RDU), just a few miles from my home.  She said that her family had been helped by volunteers when her husband was deployed…and all she wanted to do was “Give Back”.

Well, her kindness inspired me to want to “give back” too!  But how could I help?  I decided to learn more about it and asked DeAhn’s husband if he would come and talk with my Girl Scout Troop (his daughter was in my troop).  Well, the girls decided to send a care package to those deployed.  Books, gum, puzzle books, phone cards, wash cloths and socks were sent…along with a small Christmas tree adorned with NC decorations (a cardinal: state bird of NC, lighthouses, sea shells, pine trees etc).  It was a good feeling to send off the package!  And many of the girls commented how good they felt too to give to the many soldiers who were not with their families at Christmas.

Since then, I have taken many trips to the USO to donate things both from my family and my church.  During one of the visits about 2 years ago, I decided that the soldiers needed cards.  Not cards from us, but cards they could use to keep in touch with their loved ones!

So, I got to work!  I organized  a card making event at church and had ladies from the Fellowship Events Team help put it on.  I made a bunch of packages that contained a sample card along with all of the elements to make 8-12 identical cards.  Each kit contained things like pre-cut card stock, ink, stamps and ribbon.  With help from our parishioners, we were able to make and donate over 350 cards for the soldiers to write home with!

Then, last year I asked my card making group (The Stampin’ Posse!:) if they would each like to make and donate 2 cards each month for the USO.  Well, they jumped right in to help! The first time, we donated about 45 cards.   Great, right?!

Recently, I asked my Stampin’ Posse who they wanted to donate cards to.  And it was unanimous: the USO!  So each month for the last 6 months, these women have lovingly created and donated their handmade greeting cards to me so I could take them to the USO.  So sweet!:)  2012 USO donation1

Now our last meeting of the year was  Monday…and I collected the last of our cards.  I counted them on Tuesday morning and discovered that I now have 65 cards to take over to the USO! Super Sweet!

I would like to thank my Stampin’ Posse: Patricia, Sheila, Nicole, Whitney and Peggy…THANKS FOR YOUR WONDERFUL SERVICE IN DONATING YOUR HANDMADE GREETING CARDS FOR THE USO EACH AND EVERY MONTH!!!!  YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!:)  I am inspired by each of you!!  I know the soldiers will love using them to keep in touch with their family…keeping them that much closer!:)

And thanks to YOU for reading this long and personal post.  I hope this somehow inspires you to “give back”.  Leave a comment as to what you are doing to give back.  I’d love to hear your story!:)

Take Care,

Jennifer King
